Learning At Brightstorm

Filed under: Thought I Would Share — Stefani @ 8:47 am

Have you heard of Brightstorm ? It is an online learning network for high school students that are desiring to go to collage. They have different courses that cover the core topics that are commonly taught in college. These are school subjects such as Geometry, Algebra, and Writing that are designed to support  students in classes where they would need additional help in order reach their full potential. If you have a child in high school that might need some extra help, I would advise checking out what they have to offer.

Each of the Brightstorm courses are broken into ten to twenty minute video lessons that are divided by a topic. The courses also include interactive quizzes, facts and materials such as practice problems and study guides that help gain a deeper understanding of the subject of the course.

When you visit site  you can browse the courses by subject or by the teacher. What is also cool is the ability to ask the teacher questions you may have as well as share your ideas with the teacher. I would recommend taking a peek at the site and Sign up for a free brightstorm acccount to take a tour of their website and see what they really have to offer.

Update On My Son

Filed under: Family Stuff — Stefani @ 8:36 am

My son is almost 1 years old. He will be turning 1 on the 28th of this month. Last month on December 21, 2008 he pulled himself up for the first time. He now knows how to pull himself up in his crib. So now in the mornings when we wakes up, he stands up in his crib waiting to be picked up and taken out. He is also trying more and more finger foods. He loves  his Papa’s homemade apple pancakes too!

Not sure what I want to do for his birthday yet. I just may take him to Chuckie Cheese like my other kids have done for their early birthdays!

Need Web Hosting?

Filed under: Thought I Would Share — Stefani @ 4:24 pm

If you are planning to create a website this year, you are going to probably need hosting. When you go to search for hosting, you are going to see that there are many different options. Sometimes in can be overwhelming deciding which web host to go with. In my opinion, do your research first and find the right web hosting package that works for you. Some companies are going to offer special deals when you first sign up such as a free domain name. Some might offer a free month. When deciding which hosting company to host your site with, you will also have to decide on which plan you want. The plans usually go by the amount of bandwith, storage, etc that you will be using.

Before you make up your decision, there is a website that reviews many of the different web hosting companies and plans available. This site is called WebHostingReport.com. This site helps you find cheap web hosting and the features they offer. They list some of the top web hosting companies with their prices, disk space, bandwitch and more. They even have some articles on web hosting to help you learn something new!

This may be a site to bookmark for future use!

A Cute Game For Your Kids

Filed under: Thought I Would Share — Stefani @ 11:52 am

Dotcom_outlinedall

I don’t play online games too often, but if I do I like to play the virtual reality games. My kids seem to like these types of games too! I like the games where you can play with other real live people, earn virtual money, buy virtual things, etc. There are quite a few games like this online too!

I came across a really cute safe game for kids on this morning for kids. It is at ActionAllStars.com . It is a virtual game where your child can create an account for free. They select their username and password. They have to enter your email and you have to activate their membership. Once they are activated, they login and create their character. They select either a boy or a girl. Then they select the clothes, hair, eyes and shoes. Once they are done they are then taken to the part of the game where they can interact. They can play different sports, surf waves, buy clothing and more. You earn coins in the games in which you redeem on things for your character such as new clothes.

I am going to show this game to my daughter this afternoon when she gets home. She has been bugging me to play this other game online but I think she will have fun with this one too!

Almost Done Shopping

Filed under: Blah Blah Blah — Stefani @ 11:44 am

I can say that I am almost done shopping. I just have a few things left I need to buy for the kids and I am done. I did most of my shopping online this year. I like shopping online better than dealing with the crowds at the store. Even though the economy is the way it is, I still made sure my kids have quite a few gifts. Now I did get quite a few things (stocking stuffers) at the Dollar Store this year, but it is the thought that counts!
